Private Herbert Milner, who was from Fogley, Bradford, was killed in action on 1.7.1916, the 'First Day of the Somme', while serving with the 18th (2nd Bradford) Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment. Assigned to the assault on Serre, the Battalion suffered over 400 casualties.
