Lot Essay

Major Theodore William Stallybrass was born at Pontypridd, Glamorganshire in January 1887 and was commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps as a Lieutenant in July 1909. Advanced to Captain in January 1913, while on secondment to the Egyptian Army, he went on to serve in the operations against Jebel Miri, Kadugh District and Nuba Mountain Province during 1915. Stallybrass remained on secondment until 1922, was awarded the Order of the Nile, Fourth Class and advanced to Major in July 1921. He was placed on the Reserve of Officers in October 1925.
