Lot Essay

Private James Williams had previously seen active service in the Boer War and was entitled to the Queen's South Africa Medal with clasps for 'Orange Free State', 'Transvaal', 'South Africa 1901' and 'South Africa 1902'.

Private Charles Wood, who was from Warrington, Lancashire and formerly in the Cameron Highlanders, was killed in action in the attack on San-i-Yat, Mesopotamia on 22.4.1916, while serving in the 2nd Battalion, Black Watch.
