D.C.M. London Gazette 17.4.1918 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He has rendered exceptionally good service for the past year, and his devotion to duty has been most meritorious'.

Sergeant L. Dawe, D.C.M., M.M., who was from Walthamstow, London, first entered the French Theatre of War as a Corporal in the Royal Horse Artillery in mid-December 1914. Subsequently transferring to the Royal Field Artillery, he went on to win the D.C.M. and M.M., both for services with D. 112 Brigade, R.F.A.
