THOMAS AQUINAS. De arte et vero modo praedicandi. [Urach: Conrad Fyner, ca 1480-81].
4o (198 x 144 mm). Collation: [1-210]. 20 leaves, first and last blank. Gothic type 5:96. 6 outline capitals. Modern vellum. Provenance: Estelle Doheny (morocco bookplate; purchased from Maggs Bros., London, 5 June 1944) -- donated to SMS 1944.
A tall copy and an early book from the only incunable press at Urach. After printing at Esslingen in 1473-1479, Conrad Fyner transferred to Urach, where his activity spanned the years 1479-85. The date on 17v appears to have been reprinted from Creussner's edition of 1477 (Hain *1358, Goff T-263). As in the case of that, and of the majority of early editions, the 'Tree' is omitted. BMC II,611 (IA. 11220); CR 542; Goff T-265.
