(Title soiled and with lower corner torn away, a few text leaves with corners torn away affecting a few shoulder notes, closely trimmed and shaving a few head-lines.) Near contemporary English blind-ruled calf. Provenance: Richard ?Wood -- John ?Wood (contemporary signatures on title and final leaf) -- Estelle Doheny (morocco bookplate; purchased from Maggs Bros., London 16 February 1942) -- donated to SMS 1942.
Second edition of the Greek New Testament printed in England, and one of only two Greek editions published in England in the 16th century. The first was printed in London by Vautrollerius, 1587. This is a semi-Bezan edition, with additions in Matthew I, 2 and Matthew IX, 18. See Reuss, History of the New Testament, p.418. Darlow & Moule 4649 (note); STC 2794.
