Contemporary leather binding, brass center and corner pieces, brass catches (3 corner pieces and clasps missing, upper spine end and joints worn). Provenance: Estelle Doheny (morocco bookplate; purchased from Dawson's Bookshop, Los Angeles 1 July 1941) -- donated to SMS 1941.
The Ephrata Martyr book is "the largest book printed at the Brotherhood Press. The Ephrata Brethren were three years engaged upon its printing and binding. The paper was manufactured at Ephrata, and the laborius task of translating this great work from Dutch into German was also accomplished by them." Evans 6256.
