4o (203 x 140 mm). PRINTED ON VELLUM. Collation: a-z6 &6 A6 B-C4. 158 leaves. 28 lines, head-line and foliation, single column. Lettres bâtardes. Title-page with xylographic gothic lettering and large woodcut initial capital "L" (incorporating a grotesque head of a man at bottom, at the top the head of a spike-headed bird), letters of title. Verso of title with large woodcut of a crowned Saint Gregory (117 x 90 mm) holding an open book in one hand, in the other a staff with crucifix, on the right a large banderole with xylographic text. Woodcut initial capitals from several different sets and styles, ranging in height from 3 to 6 lines, some historiated. (Lower margin of title with small hole from vellum flaw, marginal vellum flaws in leaves c4, f6, g2, g4, p6, early repair to flaw at g2). Modern brown morocco gilt, covers with gilt- and blind-tooled borders, unlettered spine gilt- and blind-tooled, edges gilt, blind-tooled turn-ins, vellum endleaves, stamp-signed by Gustav Medders of Stockholm (front hinge very slightly cracked).
