In the English taste, the open back with arched pierced top rail and interlaced vase splats, shepherd's crook arms and padded seat covered in brown leather, with serpentine apron and on cabriole legs, restorations to feet

Lot Essay

The distinctive design of this chair, with pierced interlaced splat and shepherd's crook arms, demonstrates the influence of English chair designs by cabinet-makers such as Thomas Chippendale on Venetian chair-makers.
