South Persia, circa 1880
The abrashed indigo and dark brown field with small rosettes around scattered polychrome angular paired boteh together with one animal flanking a central lozenge medallion with similar pendants containing a turtle-palmette, the shaded brick-red traingular spandrels with rosettes and small floral sprays linked by zigzag panels at each side, in a narrow brick-red carnation and serrated leaf border between boteh and floral stripes, zigzag stripe at each end, minute restorations to border 7ft.5in. x 4ft.11in. (225cm. x 150cm.); together with a SHIRAZ RUG, South Persia, circa 1910, the tan field with three indigo stepped lozenge medallions in an ivory hooked angular flowering vine border between barber-pole stripes, slight wear, 4ft.9in. x 3ft.9in. (144cm. x 114cm.) (2)
