Pierre-Antoine Galligné, maître in 1767.

The central panel of this impressive commode, with delicate floral tendrils issuing from a gourd-like seed pod, flanked by a butterfly and a bird, recalls the work of the celebrated German-born ébéniste Jean-Pierre Latz. A related marquetry commode attributed to Latz was sold Christie's New York, 2 November 2000, lot 268 ($82,250).
