Venice, mid-18th Century
With serpentine simulated verde antico marble top above a pierced and shaped foliate-carved frieze with pounced ground and scrolls, centred by a foliate spray flanked by flowers, the moulded edge of the top with conforming carving and on cabriole legs headed by further foliate scrolls, the top redecorated, the green decoration of a later date, the gilding refreshed, minor losses to decoration, possibly originally undecorated

Lot Essay

This richly carved and impressively proportioned side table typifies the opulence of Venetian carving in the mid-18th century. Related tables are illustrated in S.
