A SET OF SIX NORTH ITALIAN GREEN, BLUE AND GILT-JAPANNED WALNUT SIDE CHAIRS
Venice, early 18th Century
Each with inverted baluster-shaped splat and drop-in bow-fronted seat covered in silk pink cut velvet, decorated with Chinoiserie motifs, the splats centred by a carriage and Chinaman pulled by fantastical animals, boats and palatial scenes, the frame with floral decoration, the reverse of the splats depicting a crowned cartouche, and on cabriole legs headed by upswept foliate sprays and cartouches, two chairs with Pietro Accorsi trade label, losses and restorations to decoration, the decoration largely 18th century, the chairs variously numbered
