A VICTORIAN SILVER PRESENTATION TROWEL AND SILVER-PLATED CEREMONIAL BATON
The trowel marked John Hardman & Co., Birmingham, 1857
The trowel handle with spiral twist set with red stones at knop, the shaped triangular blade engraved Presented to His Grace Henry Pelham Duke of Newcastle on the occasion of laying the foundation stone of the Lunatic Hospital for the County and Town of Nottingham October 30th 1857, and engraved with an image of the building, in original fitted case; the baton with silver-plated mounts and applied with an engraved cartouche.
