RARE WINES FROM A PRIVATE CELLAR FEATURING TWO ORIGINAL WOODEN CASES OF HAUT-BRION 1961

Property of East Coast Gentleman

The following four cases were all purchased on release and have been stored, unmoved in an excellent natural underground cellar. These are pristine examples of what superb mature Bordeaux is all about. They are all offered in their original wooden cases and were opened for the first time by Christie's wine department staff. This kind of provenance is becoming rare for wines of this age.

"As always, a totally different style, different taste, from it Médoc peers. But like them, an unmistakable depth of colour, just as the '45s had. A singed, tobacco and tea-leaves scent, harmonious - no harsh edges - confident, elegant and superb in its own slightly idiosyncratic way. An elegant, silky texture, as opposed to the more rustic, vigorous La Mission. Never very dry, it now has a pleasing sweetness, perfectly assimilated tannins and acidity, balance and length. Beautiful." GVWB
