After acquiring the Fay vineyard in 1986, 1989 was the first year that the vineyard produced sufficient quality fruit. As the quantity was low Warren Winairski after assessing the qualitites of the fruit from both the Stags Leap and Fay vineyards decided to release it as a blend.
