Of square shape with canted corners designed on the lid in gold hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with two cranes flying over a river, pines and two thatched huts, the sky area nashiji and the clouds, rocks and shoreline embellished with okibirame, the underside of the lid decorated with another landscape of two smaller cranes flying over a villa, tall rocks and pines at the edge of a bay, the sky also nashiji and the crescent moon, framed by clouds matching those on the lid, of inlaid silver; fitted with two removable trays, the left containing an inkstone and silvered mizuire, each tray covered in yellow nashiji and lacquered on the right tray with grasses in hiramaki-e, the undersides of the trays, lower interior and base roiro and nashiji, the sides of the box nashiji
