A Lacquer Poem-Slip Box (Shikishibako)

The rectangular box with rounded fundame edges decorated with rectangular panels of maples and autumn grasses in gold hiramaki-e and low-relief takamaki-e on a dense nashiji ground, many of the maple leaves covered by gold foil, the edges of the clouds and contours of the ground indicated by okibirame and drops of dew on the grasses inlaid with tiny circles of silver and gilt-metal, the interior and base of the box nashiji, the outer rims and cord fittings of silver
