A Chinese soapstone figure of Budai
19th Century
with serene expression seated wearing loose robes, two smaller figures clambering over his left knee, carved wood stand -- 2in. (5.7cm.) wide; a soapstone figure of a seated immortal holding a peach in his right hand, gnarled wood stand -- 2.2in. (5.7cm.) high; and a soapstone square seal, surrmounted by a tortoise standing on rockwork with a smaller tortoise trying to scrabble onto its back -- 3 3/8in. (8.2cm) high, (one with minor damages).
