Lot Essay

Stephen Fairbanks and Robert Waterston were both members of the church, each serving on various governing committees. Stephen Fairbanks (d. 1866) had a distinguished career in business and politics, acting as director and treasurer of the Western Railways Corporation and serving several terms as a member of the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives.

Robert Waterston (d. 1869) left an estate valued at over $200,000 and bequeathed funds to both Reverend Gannett and the Benevolent Fraternity of Churches, which Reverend Gannett supported.
