The flat cover inscribed and dated in scratch brown 'A.H. 1779' above a waisted neck, the sides moulded with Apollo and flowering branches, decorated allover with green, brown and ochre

Lot Essay

Two other cannistyers of similar form, dated 1779 and with scratch brown intitials are recorded. One, in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (C.109-1938) is initialled 'EM'.
