Lot Essay

Sir Denis Mahon has pointed out that this drawing may be connected with the picture of The Miracle of Eliseo painted for the Marchese Carlo Ruini. The composition, now lost, was engraved in reverse by Pasqualini in 1627, P. Bagni, Il Guercino e i suoi incisori, Rome, 1988, no. 96.
