The center a garden scene with two elaborately dressed and coiffed French court ladies enjoying the scent of blossoms, a gentleman in a long curly wig looking on and a servant holding a basket of further blooms at one side, behind them a pagoda-roofed pavilion, the rim with eight panels of Chinese ladies admiring flowering plants and holding sprigs and fans, reserved on a wan-fret ground, and the back with a six-character Kangxi mark in underglaze blue

A very similar dish in the Mottahedeh collection is illustrated by Howard & Ayers, op. cit., p. 78, where the authors note that it is probably inspired by a Bonnart print, and that the reign mark is a very unusual feature on export wares in this period
