FIVE ENGLISH GREEN-GROUND ARMORIAL AND CRESTED PLATES AND PLATTERS
First half of the 19th century
Comprising a Mason's patent ironstone china soup plate, the center with the gilt crest of a lion holding tied sticks, the border reserved with yellow llandscape vingettes enriched in gilt and branches of fruit, 9 5/8in. (24.4cm.) diam.; a Worcester oval platter painted with a crest surmounted by the Brazilian Order of the Rose, the border with panels of flowers, 16¼in. (41.2cm.) long; two H. & R. Daniel crested small bowls, painted with the crest of the Earls of Shrewsbury, the border with birds and flowers, 5¾in. (14.6cm.) diam.; and a Flight, Barr & Barr crested soup plate, the crest with a sprig of thistle and a knight's helmet beneath the motto 'PRO REGE ET LEGE', 10¼in. (26cm.) diam.; together with a Wedgwood pearlware plate, early 20th century, porinted and colored with the royal arms of England, the border with an oak and acorn vine, 9½in. (24.2cm.) diam., and an English tureen stand, circa 1887, in the 'Jubilee' pattern, printed and enriched in color with the portrait head of Queen Victoria within a foliate surround incorporating rose, thistle and clover for the Union, 11 5/8in. (29.5cm.) diam. (7)
