Rudolph Ackermann illustrated a related Gothic sofa 'from the Fulham residence of Mr. Walsh-Porter', one of the Prince of Wales's artistic advisers, in the Repository of Arts in 1810. The Gothic antique manner had been introduced by architects such as the Wyatts and was popularised by the 1808 publication of a Collection of Designs for Household Furniture by George Smith, himself 'upholder' to the Prince of Wales
