Lot Essay

The offered tripod table is refered to by Herbert Cescinsky in his aforementioned volumes on eighteenth century English furniture as being 'a fine example of this type (galleried) of tripod-table, the fretted top being pierced on each side with finger holes, either to carry the entire table, or to allow of the top being detached and used as a separate tray.'
