Circa 1765
Each with an elaborate coat-of-arms on the rim of Alvarez de Toledo, Dukes of Alba, encircled by the chains of the French orders of St. Michel and St. Esprit and the Spanish Order of the Golden Fleece, all on puce mantling issuing eight pennants and with the motto above TU IN EA ET EGO PRO EA, a cluster of gilt flowers in the centerand the molded rim edged in gilt

Lot Essay

This service probably made for Don Fernando de Silva, Alvarez de Toledo, Beaumont, Hurtado de Mendoza, 12th Duke of Alba (1714-76) and a President of the Council of Indies.
