Lot Essay

This platter is part of a series of works executed by François Hugo after designs by Picasso. Picasso had been introduced to Hugo through Douglas Cooper and the two men went on to collaborate between 1958 and 1967. The preparatory drawing for the present work, which was given to Hugo by Picasso on 2 April 1958, will be offered in our Impressionist and Modern Works on Paper sale on 7 February 2002.
