Sauternes, 1er grand cru classé. Château-bottled
Recorked in 1999. Lightly bin-soiled labels. Lot 13 level base of neck. Deep tawny colour. Lot 14 level mid/low-shoulder
Tasting note: A glorious vintage; a better balanced, sweeter, softer lusciousness than either the '21or the 1937. If kept in good condition, still perfection. However, 29's tend to be deep in colour, to the extent that those who are unaware of this tend to assume that the wine is maderised. Not so. Deep, rich amber, some rose-tinted tawny, all beautifully coloured, the top note of its bouquet seems to be 'cream', peaches, apricots, peeled sultanas, rich slightly toasted, always sweet, full of body, extract and flavour, concentrated, with a great length and exquisite aftertaste.
