The seaman with cap in hand, his left leg with a peg from the knee down, the soldier with a crutch under his outstretched right arm, both figures with rectangular section posts supporting them behind, on shaped bases, the former inscribed to his back Pubd 28 Feb 1818 by Shout Holborn, the latter similarly inscribed -- 12 3/8in. (31.4cm.) high (2)

Robert Shout (fl.1778-1823) worked from a studio at 18, High Holborn, London, advertising ..several hundreds of figures from the Antique, and likenesses of distinguished personages made to imitate real bronze.
