Tunbridgeware boxes of related design showing Eridge castle are illustrated in E.H. & E.R. Pinto Tunbridge and Scottish Souvenir Woodware, London 1970, fig.13.
A superstructure atop the tallest tower of the castle was demolished around 1874, and earlier Tunbridgeware views of the castle include it. The supersrtucture is not present in this example.
