Lot Essay

This collage is a study for Christo and Jeanne-Claude's Pont-Neuf Wrapped, Paris, 1975-1985 which was completed on 22 September 1985. With the aid of 300 professional workers and 440,000 feet of woven fabric, the 400 year old bridge was wrapped for fourteen days, transforming an architectural landmark into a work of contemporary art.
