A Japanese ivory shell carving
19th Century
modelled slightly open revealing a figure in a boat fishing near further figures beneath pine trees -- 3¼in. (8.3cm.) wide; and a small Chinese tortoiseshell and ivory cosmetics box and cover, of rectangular shape, the cover with a pierced ivory plaque painted with a maiden, the base and cover with enamelled metal mounts, the interior with a mirror -- 3 3/8in. (8.5cm.) wide, (chips to interior of shell).
