A cloisonne enamel vase
early 17th Century
of archaic bronze hu form, with globular body, waisted neck and spreading foot, the shoulders applied with two gilt-bronze lion-mask and loose-ring handles, decorated with bands of scrolling lotus and buds, grapevine and scattered flowerheads in coloured enamels on a turquoise ground, divided by bands of flowerhead and scrolling leaf pattern on lapis lazuli grounds -- 16in. (40.7cm.) high, (old damages).
