Lot Essay

This composition was a popular one, the artist exhibited small paintings with similiar titles at the First and Fourth Exhibitions held in Greenock, Scotland, reported in the Greenock Advertiser of 22 January 1813, and 10 September 1816, both being favourable reviewed at the time.
