A MULTI-GEM AND 18K GOLD ELEPHANT SAUTOIR, BY RENÉ BOIVIN
Designed as an elephant with onyx eyes and circular-cut sapphire toes, wearing a vari-cut coloured diamond, pear-shaped emerald and cabochon sapphire headdress, to the bezel-set emerald and coloured diamond howdah, the reverse with scrolled detail, suspending baguette-cut diamond and coloured diamond fringe, to the central bezel-set sapphire in a baguette-cut diamond surround, suspended from a gold rope chain, circa 1940, 80.0 cm., with French assay marks for gold, in a René Boivin brown suede case
