Christopher Lawrence was born in 1936 and apprenticed with C.J. Vander as well as receiving training at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London. Following time spend working with R.E. Stone and Gerald Benney, Lawrence went on to open his own shop. Besides winning 28 prizes in the Goldsmith's Craft Council competitions and three Jacques Cartier Memorial awards, Lawrence was commissioned to produce a rosewater dish which was presented to Goldsmith's Hall in 1977 by associates of the company.
Examples of his work were exhibited at Goldsmith's Hall and are illustrated in the catalogue for the exhibition Treasures of the 20th Century, 2000.
