AN OAK CHEST ON STAND, ENGLISH, LATE 17TH CENTURY
the chest with moulded hinging lid above a frieze applied with ebonised cabochons, with a pair of raised moulded panels flanking a shaped central section with metal pull, a catch on the inside allowing it to function as a door, the sides with similar ebonised cabochons and with a lower channel mould, the stand with arcaded aprons and turned tapering legs joined by wavy flattened stretchers and on bun feet possibly associated -- 43in. (109cm.) wide, 38½in. (98cm.) high, 21in. (53cm.) deep
