A PAIR OF DIRECTOIRE PARCEL-GILT AND GREEN-PAINTED FAUTEUILS,
Each stamped JACOB FRERES/RUE MESLEE, Circa 1800,
Each back-scrolled crestrail and bowed seat upholstered in red and white-stripped silk, the frame grooved overall on turned tapering legs, redecorated, one with a replaced side seat rail, with printed museum labels inscribed 5.60 and 18.56, one further inscribed in black ink ACC 55.42.2 and in red ink 55.42.1, one stamped 31395 (2)

This stamp was employed by Georges II and François-Honoré-Georges Jacob between 1796 and 1803.

This pair of fauteuils originally belonged to a larger suite, six of which were acquired by French & Company at the Salomon sale in 1928.
