Nutting after Melchior Füsslin, titles printed in red and black with engraved vignettes, additional engraved titles and 98 engraved views, plans and maps only (of 131, front endpaper detached, a few short tears, occasional light spotting and browning). Contemporary mottled calf (joints splitting, rubbed and scuffed). Second edition of Scheuchzer's survey of Switzerland, greatly expanded from the first edition of 1708. The plates include geological profiles and samples, scientific equipment and regional flora and fauna, including some fabulous beasts, and 3 plates paid for by Sir Isaac Newton with dedications.
