REMNANTS FROM THE MAGNIFICENT PRIVATE CELLAR OF A TRUE CONNOISSEUR
The following lots represent the few remaining wines from what was once one of the greatest private cellars in the United States.
There are truly great wines here, quite apart from the great Bordeaux vintages, there are stunning magnums of mature Burgundy, rare vintage ports, Sherry and Madeira as well as an amazing array of German wines - an exceptional addition to any collector's cellar.
This great collection, principally acquired from the 1940s to the 1980s, was stored for many years at the family home purchased in 1918. This cellar, established during the 1930s, is largely underground with two large air conditioning units maintaining an average 52 degrees Fahrenheit and close to 80 humidity.
The cellar at the family home later supplied satellite cellars in the homes of family members. The wines offered here were removed from one of these cellars also subterranean and maintained at ideal temperature and humidity.
All wines were inspected and catalogued in the cellar by Christie's Wine Department.
These exceptional wines are matched only by their impeccable provenance.
Richard Brierley

Largely acquired during the period of the 1940s to the 1980s
Thereafter by family descent.
Dom Pérignon Brut--Vintage 1947
