Level: mid shoulder; damaged capsule
Magnificent Cabernet fragrance, concentration, depth, fabulous flavour and lovely aftertaste. A gloriously rich, soft, fleshy, elliptically perfect bottle at a tasting in 1986. More recently an almost caricatured Mouton, spiciness on the nose, with a very sweet, exotic flavour and aftertaste. Most recently, another recorked Nicolas bottle with exquisite bouquet. It was a glorious mouthful and whatever the acidity lurking, it was not showing its head over the parapet. This is one of the great '47s. M.B.
