Lot 315 levels: three very top shoulder, excellent appearance. Lot 316 levels: nine bottom neck or better, three very top shoulder, excellent appearance. Lot 317 levels: three bottom neck or better, three very top, two top, three upper and one mid shoulder. Lot 318 levels: four very top, five top and three upper shoulder, two slightly corroded capsules.
At a recent blind tasting of 1959 and 1961 Bordeaux First-growths the 1959 Latour proved to be more of a powerhouse than the 1961, with an amazingly well-extracted toffee-cassis-Christmas pudding nose, and warm, spicy, and cedary flavors. The formidable remaining tannins indicated that the best still lay ahead. FH
