Circa 1775-80
Each enamelled with a young man on a ladder picking cherries from a tree and dropping them into the lap of a standing lady, another lady guiding the cherries from the lap into a large basket, the rim with a gold and iron-red rope-twist band, minor rim chips (2)

Lot Essay

This design is taken from a print by Nicolas Ponce after Antoine Baudouin, brother-in-law to François Boucher, and it was the inspiration for Boucher's large painting with this subject, which is now in the Iveagh Bequest, Kenwood House.
