A RARE FAMILLE ROSE EUROPEAN-SUBJECT TEABOWL AND SAUCER
Circa 1740
Enamelled with a lady looking out of a portico, holding a rose in one hand and small dog in the other, wearing loose pink and blue robes with yellow lining, and a diadem in her hair, below a narrow band of gilt and grisaille scrolling foliage at the rim, repeated in the interior of the teabowl

Lot Essay

A very similar saucer is illustrated by Hervouët and Bruneau, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes à Décor Occidental, Paris, 1986, p.119, fig.6.11, together with another, with small variations, which is in the Chinese Pavilion, Brussels, as fig.6.12.
