Tibet, 16th/17th Century
Finely painted within a circular and square grid with Guhyasamaja at center surrounded by his retinue ensconced in red aureoles, interspersed between foliate scrolls within diagonal planes of red, green, white and yellow, the outer circle comprising deities, mahasiddhas and monks in aureoles including Vajradhara, Maitreya and King Indrubhuti at top left, Shakyamuni and Manjushri at top right, Sachen Kunga Nyingpo and Jambhala at lower left and Amitayus and Brahmarupa at lower right; inscribed in Tibetan beneath four figures and the reverse with three-line dedication and Ohm Ah Hum mantras behind each figure; mounted in a silk brocade also labeled in Tibetan on reverse
