A GERMAN GOLD-MOUNTED PORCELAIN SNUFF-BOX
Meissen, circa 1755
Oval box, the cover base and sides painted with huntsmen, Oriental merchants, gallants and companions in river-landscapes with Dresden castles and palaces including the Albrechtsburg and the the Brühlsche Terrassen, within shaped oval scroll cartouches with flower-sprays, the cartouches of the sides and base scroll-moulded, the interior of the cover with a lady seated on a terrace accompanied by two gallants in a Saxon landscape, the gold mounts chased with a fluted basket-weave pattern
