A GERMAN GOLD-MOUNTED PORCELAIN SNUFF-BOX
possibly Meissen, circa 1760
Tapering cylindrical box in the form of a two-handled basket, painted with a simulated ozier ground in shades of brown, the slightly raised cover painted to simulate a circular aperture revealing the contents of a rich variety of flowers, the interior of the cover with two ewes grazing in a meadow below a distant castle on a hill-top, with ozier-moulded gold mounts and thumbpiece
