A SWISS TWO-COLOUR GOLD BOÎTE-À-MINIATURE
probably Geneva, circa 1780/1800, the miniature by Gabriel-Aristide Passot (1797-1875), signed, circa 1860
Circular box, the hinged cover later set with a glazed oval miniature of Empress Eugénie (1826-1920) wearing rich pearl jewellery, framed by 31 simulated circular-cut diamonds within a silver mount, the border of the engine-turned cover and base chased with quatrefoils alternating with lozenges, framed by flutes
2 3/8 in. (60 mm.) diam.
