Three-draw telescope, the oval panels enamelled with Swiss river scenes against diagonal stripes enriched with garlands of flowers on opaque pink and translucent red grounds, terminating in wavy bands of pink and white enamel

Lot Essay

Very few similar Swiss enamelled telescopes have been on the auction market. One, from the Palace Collection of Egypt, was first sold on 13 March 1954, lot 676, again at Sotheby's, London, 19 May 1960, lot 115, and again, at Christie's, Geneva, on 12 May 1987, lot 309. Another one was sold at Christie's, Geneva, on 29-30 November 1982, lot 349.
